He`e Nalu Surfboards 1920-1950's
The He`e Nalu collection resides on Kauai, Hawaii.
#1) 1938 (Approx.) According to original owner Tom Blake custom built paddleboard, built for Tommy Zahn (14' 2" X 22" ) Condition 5.5
We asked Gary Lynch the most renowned Tom Blake authority and he said ""It would be my opinion that as late as Blake
met Zahn (as pictured in our book, and noted in our piece on Zahn in TSJ), and that Zahn was a fast endurance paddler, I can't
imagine Blake creating anything of the sort (as pictured in images you sent) for Zahn. The metal gets really hot in the sun,
and is also dangerous at times. The shape is very retro 30's and would not be a contender in Zahn's era."
#2) 1930's - Tom Blake Style Hollow Paddle Board (12' 2" X 22-3/4")
No label but contains unique back drain plug.
#3) (1998) Tom Blake Style Hollow Surfboard (11' 11" X 19-1/2")
One of the first authentic replica Blake's "Pointed Tail Model" crafted by Cyacus's Dirk Langer. Red antique finish
#4) (1930's-40's Style) Hollow Plywood Kookbox (10' X 23-1/4")
Unique modified Blake in that this may have been made from the packaged templates of the 40's, that appeared in magazines
and where sold with a template. The Easi-Build #247 "Surfboard" Pattern is a direct match to this board and was
probably made using it. We have a mint copy of these plans that will come with board.
Please note: We will be adding more surfboards, more information and updated pictures.
